Joi SJ Harris, the first licensed African American female road racer in the United States, is being identified as the stuntdriver who died while onset of Deadpool 2.
Harris' death prompted lead, Ryan Reynolds, to issue a heartfelt statement via social media:
— Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) August 14, 2017Harris was filming in Vancouver for the Marvel film's sequel when she lost control of her motorcycle for a scene, jumped a curb and hit a building.
Filming has been stopped temporarily while the crew mourns the loss.
